This cross between C. crus-galli and C. pubescens grows into a small tree approx. 6 m tall with a dense and broad vase-shaped crown. The greyish-brown branches are practically without thorns. The oval to ovoid leaves have 2 - 4 lobes and are slightly leathery. The upper side is dull dark green, the underside light green. In the autumn the leaves remain a long time on the tree, often until well into December. White flowers in umbels appear in May and June. They are followed by glossy reddish-brown fruits approx. 1.5 cm in diameter. They stay on the tree until the first frost. The tree needs good anchoring because of its weak root system. Preferably on wind-free sites in parks and small streets.
